Vegas, Babies. Vegas.

Oh dear readers, I had to log on and share. I believe you'll be glad I did. To clarify, this is not a kiss and tell post. I don't do that here. These are the sorts of stories that can be shared.

What a trip it's been so far. Our flight was 2h late departing lovely Flint airport. (truly a Jooky airport, but one I'm happy about). So, we did finally get to Vegas. Had a heck of a time getting a shuttle to our hotel. Once here, at the Old Vegas Stardust

They put us in the most godawful hole of a room, up some stairs and at the 4ss-end of the building. We called the front desk right away, but had to spend one night in the garret. Our first day was mostly exploring, getting our bearings. It was during our initial turn down the strip that K got herself some mad blisters. Me, in my Keens, I was Ok. We crashed early (i know, not very Vegas).

Day 2: After sightseeing and shopping, I was having a hard time finding a good bar. They were all hip hop, and that is just not my style. So I stopped at a bar to have a pint of Fat Tire and collect myself. Good thing I did! I asked the bartenders where I could go and not listen to hip hop (because I'd already been to some of the more chic clubs on the strip and had chosen to leave), techno, rock, that'd be fine, just no hip hop. They sent me to the Empire Ballroom which, being an after hours club, was mostly abandoned when I got there around 2am. They played a bunch of techno. Including Good Life by hometown fav Carl Craig. It was refreshing. I danced my feet off. (literally had to patch them up this morning). There was very little sleeping this morning.

Day 3: More seeing of sights - Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and Excalibur.

Hoo!
Excalibur was extra cheesy, but I got to try out a different sort of mail:

We decided it was our penance for not heckling rennies this year.

It's a fact that when I see something cool/odd/interesting, the first thing I want to do is put it on my head. This is one bit of comic relief I can be counted upon to provide.

The Luxor was pretty cool. Especially for someone who's done very little research on the time period/culture.

Of course, I couldn't actually stay at the Luxor. I'd wake up every morning yelling things like, "Our god's a fun god! Our god's the sun god! Ra! Ra! Ra!" And whomever I'm staying with would have to flog me with papyrus, and poke me with Anubis. heh. maybe that wouldn't be all bad...

Tonight K and I hit the Hard Rock Hotel, ate at the Pink Taco, wandered off to the Rainbow Room. I drank more draft Fat Tire while watching music videos, mostly 80's hairmetal music videos, but that's her genre. Anyway, I got to drink good beer, learn more about metal, and spend the evening looking at this creepy Ozzy wall-hanging thing.

Rawk.

Las Vegas. 'tis a silly place.
