Home Visit

Hi There!

It's been forever, eh?

Well in November I was home in MI for 3 huuuge glorious weeks.  Wow, so nice to be there.  It was great to see the fam, the friends, and to go shopping at Target.

One thing I really want to say is Thank you for reading.  and Thank you for telling me you read.

people i hadn't seen for a while came up to me and said they read. apparently, i have a cadre of very quiet readers. thanks for letting me know in person, feel free to comment if you feel so moved!

I think I put about 2000 miles on the rental car in those 3 weeks.

i got to be in traverse city for the iceman afterparties. i visited people i missed all over the metro area, including my hairdresser who hasn't seen me for almost 3 years, what with the headshaving and all.

I also got to spend Thankschristgivingmas (that annual 4-day weekend event) with my mom, dad, and sister up at the 'rents cottage.

there was much shopping. clothes here are cheaper, and cut more like i'm used to.  and i hauled back a PILE of english language books.  last year i read a tonne, and sort of wiped most of my good-intention book buys out.  so now i'm stocked with Heinlein, Asimov, Hemingway, and some miscellaneous others.  It should keep me until i get back for TCGmas next year.

there was eating! mom cooked up amazing turkey dinner, and a big christmas roast, dad helped. ginny and i ate and washed dishes. i am very thankful that i could be cloistered up in the quiet cottage on Lake Huron for the long weekend.

here are a couple things i miss about the states: barbecue sauce, on everything.  drive up atms.  mexican food.  wide streets.  and of course my peeps.

All in all, I have to say I miss the crap out of the US.  Europe is fun and all..  but i think i'm going to move back to the states when my time here is up.  We'll see how things develop, but that's my feeling right now.  the germs just make everything a lot tougher than it needs to be (except beer drinking of course, they make that easier).

ok, that's what I've got for now.  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday, and a great New Years.  Guten Rutsch!
